The National Institute of Medicinal Herbalists

Trailblazing since 1864

As well as supporting start-ups, I also work with national brands. First established in 1864, The National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH) has a long and illustrious history. Promoting the benefits of herbal medicine, it has established itself as the UK’s leading professional body of herbal practitioners.

Times are a-changing though and in recent years healthy living campaigns have led to a sharp increase in the public’s awareness of herbal medicines. With demand soaring, it was time for the Institute to raise its profile. The brief was clear, NMHE wanted to refresh its image by creating a confident brand that would reflect both the professionalism and heritage it had become world renown for. It needed a public-image makeover.

Throughout the project, I worked with the Omni Productions team and designed a series of workshops to research and define a creative brief. This resulted in a fresh new logo, a library of new illustrations and photographic x-rays, a recognisable brand identity, and design layouts for posters, leaflets, folders, and the web.

The results have been significant. Evolving the brand has led to a dynamic new public perception, an exciting partnership with Typhoo Tea, and an increase in membership numbers.
